Laundry Tips
Residue or lint on load out of washer
Cause:
Improper sorting.
Solution: Sort lint givers (towels, chenille) from lint takers (corduroy,
synthetics). Also sort by color
Cause:
Overloading.
Solution: Lint can be trapped in load if overloaded. Wash smaller loads.
Cause:
Paper or tissue in pockets.
Solution: Clean out pockets before washing.
Cause:
Not enough detergent.
Solution: Use enough detergent to hold lint in water.
Cause:
Detergent not dissolving.
Solution: Use wash water warmer than 70 degrees F (21 degrees C).
Cause:
Wash water colder than 70 degrees F (21 degrees C).
Solution: Use wash water warmer than 70 degrees F (21 degrees C).
Cause:
Overloading, improper use of washer.
Solution: Loads should move freely during wash. Wash smaller loads.

Cause:
Not removing load promptly.
Solution: Unload the washer as soon as it stops.
Cause:
Wrong cycle for fabrics being washed.
Solution: Use the Permanent Press cycle or another cycle with low spin
speed to reduce wrinkling.
Cause:
Overloading.
Solution: Loads should move freely during wash. Wash smaller loads.
Cause:
Wash water not warm enough to relax wrinkles. Using warm rinses.
Solution: If safe for fabric, use warm or hot wash water. Use cold rinse
water.
Cause:
Hoses reversed.
Solution: Reverse hoses.
Cause:
Overloading.
Solution: Loads should move freely during wash. Wash smaller loads.
Cause:
Clothes wrapped around agitator.
Solution: Do not wrap items around agitator.
Gray whites/dingy colors, color change
Cause:
Dye transfer.
Solution: Sort dark clothes from whites and lights.
Cause:
Wash temperature too low.
Solution: Use hot or warm washes if safe for fabric. Hot water should be
at least 130 degrees F (54 degrees C) to clean heavy or greasy soils.
Cause:
Not enough detergent.
Solution: Use more detergent for washing heavy soils in cold or hard
water.
Cause:
Hard water.
Solution: Use more detergent when washing in hard water.
Cause:
Drying dark colors with light colors.
Solution: Separate dark colors from light colors before drying.
Cause:
Drying colorfast colors with non-colorfast colors.
Solution: Separate colorfast colors from non-colorfast colors before
drying.
Slow drying or clothes still wet
Cause:
Incorrect cycle or temperature setting selected.
Solution: Select the correct cycle or temperature setting for the fabric
type you are drying.
Cause:
Full or clogged lint screen.
Solution: Empty lint screen.
Cause:
Exhaust duct clogged, restricted, or too long. See Installation Instructions.
Solution: Unclog exhaust vent or outside exhaust hood. Refer to the
venting section of your Use and Care guide. See Installation Instructions.
Cause:
Dryer not level to allow for clothes contacting the electronic dryness sensor.
Solution: Make sure dryer is properly leveled. See Installation
Instructions.
Cause:
Dryer located in room with temperature below 45 degrees F (7 degrees C).
Solution: Dryer should be installed in a room with temperature above 45
degrees F (7 degrees C).
Cause:
Load too large and bulky to dry quickly.
Solution: Loads should move freely during drying period. Dry smaller
loads.
Cause:
Drying heavy fabrics (denim, towels) with light fabrics (synthetics, permanent
press).
Solution: Separate heavy fabrics from light fabrics.
Cause:
Fabric softener sheet blocking exhaust grill inside dryer drum.
Solution: Remove fabric softener sheet from exhaust grill inside dryer
drum.
Cause:
Full lint screen.
Solution: Empty lint screen.

Overdrying, especially synthetic fabrics that cause lint-attracting static
electricity.
Solution: Select correct drying cycle and temperature for fabric type.
