Billing Questions

The question of "how much will I have to pay to have a repair and should I even have it repaired or replaced?" will inevitably come up when the home owner is trying to decide which company to use. There are a couple of factors to take into consideration while making your decision

Our company and most companies today have gone to what is termed “Flat Rate Billing.” This simply means that the cost of the repair has been averaged over the years and to protect home owners from overages from issues like inexperienced technicians and possible mishandling of a job. The price will be broken down so that you can see what went to what. Specific repair issues have been given one cost value and the home owner will know up front what a repair will cost and if the technician miss handles an issue then there is no additional cost to the home owner. There is still the issue of diagnoses. There is a fee to come to your home and tell you what the repair will cost and what the repair issue is. However most companies (including yours truly) will role the cost of diagnoses into the repair or replacement of the equipment. So in essence it would be wise to do some research into the age evaluation and cost of new equipment before calling a technician.

How do you do an age evaluation? Well if you’ve gotten to this web site we will assume that you have an internet connection, so going to the web site of the particular manufacture should be no problem. These sites generally give you quite a bit of information. Most offer advice on when to replace versus repair. It has been notice however that a few don’t, and if that is an issue in your particular situation then just give us a call and we will see if we can give you enough information to help you make your decision.

What company to use? Mine of course. :) Most companies are the same until you have a problem then they have a tendency to cut and run. Installation on anything is important but when thinking of a heating and air conditioning contractor it is even more serious. Mistakes that are made while a contractor is working on your equipment during installation may not show up for several years and there is a good possibility that you won’t even recognize it as an installation flaw. However the fact remains that there are a lot of contractors that simply don’t know what they are doing and it is dismissed do to prices that these companies charge. Saving some money now can cost you dearly in the future. Especially when installing high efficiency equipment. If things aren’t done right any money you expected to save on your electric bill may be lost due to poor installation techniques. So do some research before using a particular company. My company has a reference list (and every company should) of people that you can call to verify work and warranty performance. Let’s face it, if a company can’t get some people to say something nice about them out of their own customer base something is just not right.
